Jay graduated from Longwood University in 1997 with a BA in English. He began his career at IBM in Raleigh, NC. While there, he excelled as a technical writer on a marketing team and then as a web software engineer. After moving to Richmond, VA, in 1999, he was a consultant with several companies as a writer and web designer.
He later became a marketing manager at a top 50 international law firm, Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth). While at Hunton, he built and managed the firm’s video production capability. He also helped pioneer the use of new technologies, including webinars and multimedia presentations, to enhance business communications.
After 13 years at Hunton, Jay started Haas Media Solutions, LLC. He has since worked with many more companies and their marketing teams, creating professional videos that impact sales and engagement.
Jay is married to his wife Catherine and spends his spare time focused on his family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoys playing his guitars, writing songs, hiking, and camping. Jay and Cat are blessed to have had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy), whom they lost in 2016 to hydrocephalus. They are currently foster parents to three amazing children, who are Jay’s enthusiastic camping buddies.

At Hunton & Williams, Jay leveraged and honed his entrepreneurial perspective to, in essence, start up and sustain what evolved into a significant internal service providing real business value to the organization.
We’ve collaborated on many projects. Jay has high professional standards and a great eye for video. He makes suggestions and recommendations that make a pretty good video into something that’s outstanding. Demanding of himself but easy to work with.
